Logan had a long trip home from Cedar City.
The Grizzlies (8-16-1) opened the state playoffs by getting no-hit against Tooele (12-10). Logan also committed four errors The Buffaloes hit five home runs in the five-inning game.
It got a little better in the one-loss bracket game played Saturday afternoon. In fact, the Grizzlies held a 1-0 lead in the early going when Mia Marin brought Mollie Balling home with one of her two hits in the game. Balling also had two base knocks.
After getting no-hit in the first game, Logan had six base hits, including a Cheyenne Weekes double.
Carbon (14-9) scored three runs in the third to take the lead and never looked back. The Dinos also benefited from five errors by the Grizzlies.
With the loss, Loganâs season comes to an end.
Logan Grizzly Varsity Can’t Hold Up Against Tooele
Logan Grizzly Varsity couldn’t keep up with Tooele and fell 13-0 on Saturday.
Tooele scored seven runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Tooele came thanks to a home run by Kamryn Grover, a home run by Blake Hervat, a single by Mercy Deryke, and a home run by A Lojan.
Grover earned the win for Tooele. She threw five innings, allowing zero runs, zero hits, striking out 12, and walking one. Nya Laing took the loss for Logan Grizzly Varsity. She tossed one and one-third innings, allowing two runs, zero hits, and striking out two.
Home runs for Tooele came when Jenna Gowans homered in the second inning, Payton Hammond homered in the second inning, Hervat homered in the fourth inning, Grover homered in the fourth inning, and Lojan homered in the fourth inning.
Tooele collected 11 hits. Lojan, Hervat, Deryke, and Grover each collected multiple hits for Tooele. Tooele was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Hervat had the most chances in the field with 11.
