Logan had a long trip home from Cedar City.
The Grizzlies (8-16-1) opened the state playoffs by getting no-hit against Tooele (12-10). Logan also committed four errors The Buffaloes hit five home runs in the five-inning game.
It got a little better in the one-loss bracket game played Saturday afternoon. In fact, the Grizzlies held a 1-0 lead in the early going when Mia Marin brought Mollie Balling home with one of her two hits in the game. Balling also had two base knocks.
After getting no-hit in the first game, Logan had six base hits, including a Cheyenne Weekes double.
Carbon (14-9) scored three runs in the third to take the lead and never looked back. The Dinos also benefited from five errors by the Grizzlies.
With the loss, Loganâs season comes to an end.
Logan Grizzly Varsity Can’t Hold Up Against Carbon
Logan Grizzly Varsity couldn’t keep up with Carbon and fell 10-1 on Saturday.
Logan Grizzly Varsity took an early lead in the first inning. Mia Marin drove in one when she singled in the first inning.
Carbon took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Soensen homered off of Nya Laing, driving in one run and Fosset homered off of Laing, driving in two runs.
Carbon scored four runs in the fifth inning. Carbon’s big inning was driven by a error and a error.
Sorenson earned the win for Carbon. She tossed five innings, allowing one run, five hits, striking out six, and walking one. Laing took the loss for Logan Grizzly Varsity. She threw seven innings, giving up ten runs, seven hits, and striking out five.
Home runs for Carbon came when Soensen homered in the third inning and Fosset homered in the third inning.
Logan Grizzly Varsity had six hits in the game. Marin and Molli Balling each collected multiple hits for Logan Grizzly Varsity. Balling and Marin each managed two hits to lead Logan Grizzly Varsity.
Carbon collected seven hits. Fosset and Kraushaar each collected multiple hits for Carbon. Carbon didn’t commit a single error in the field. Cripps had 12 chances in the field, the most on the team.
