Logan rebounded nicely after two rough outings against the top two teams in Region 11 to begin the week.The Grizzlies (7-12-1, 4-5 region) made quick work of visiting Morgan (8-13, 2-6). Logan scored seven runs in the bottom of the first and ended the game in four innings.“The girls played well and got it over in a hurry,” Logan coach Kim Laing said.

Two players drew extra praise from the coach. Catcher Callie Billings and freshman Rachel Boyer had good outings for the hosts.

“Callie Billings played really well defensively,” Laing said. “She has stepped in (because of an injury) and stepped up as our catcher. She had a really good day today. Offensively, Rachel Boyer really stepped up. It was good to see her respond.”

Boyer was 2 for 3, scored two runs and had an RBI. Mia Marin led the Grizzlies at the plate, going 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run. Nya Laing was 2 for 4 with five RBIs and picked up the win in the circle, allowing just two hits and striking out five. Amaya Maes scored three times.

Logan hosts Ben Lomond Friday for Senior Day.

Logan Grizzly Varsity defeated Morgan 16-1 thanks to a strong start. Logan Grizzly Varsity scored on a double by Nya Laing, a fielder’s choice , a single by Rachel Boyer, a walk , and a single by Laing in the first inning.
Logan Grizzly Varsity captured the lead in the first inning. With zero outs in the first inning Nya Laing drove in one run when she doubled.
Logan Grizzly Varsity scored eight runs in the third inning. Logan Grizzly Varsity scored on a error, a error, a double by Mia Marin, a single by Saige Hansen, a stolen base , and a single by Callie Billings.
Laing earned the win for Logan Grizzly Varsity. She pitched four innings, allowing one run, two hits, and striking out five. Baylee Loertscher took the loss for Morgan. She tossed one-third of an inning, allowing seven runs, and two hits.
Logan Grizzly Varsity collected ten hits. Marin, Rachel Boyer, and Laing each collected multiple hits for Logan Grizzly Varsity. Marin went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Logan Grizzly Varsity in hits. Logan Grizzly Varsity was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Billings made the most plays with eight.
