Game Recap

Soaring Eagle 64, Grizzlies 58

In their second matchup with defending 3A runner-up Juan Diego on the season, the Grizzlies gave themselves some opportunities to steal a win. Visiting Logan just couldn’t quite get over the hump down the stretch.

“We gave ourselves a chance,” Grizzlies head coach Logan Brown said. “Our defense was really good tonight and we really did a good job of focusing on stops. I’m really proud of our kids for their effort. We’ve just got to collectively get better at executing down the stretch, but we will get there.”

Logan entered the fourth quarter only down 52-51. The Grizzlies defended well enough to keep the game close, but came up just short on the offensive end.

Logan showed marked improvement this go-around with the Soaring Eagle (17-3, 7-1). Just over two weeks ago, they fell at home to Juan Diego by a score of 68-44 on January 18th. Friday night’s loss snapped a three-game winning-streak for the Grizzlies.

Jared Bagley led the way for Logan (11-10, 4-4) with 20 points, and Josh Jensen and Anthony McDade both netted 11. Cooper Ward contributed seven points as a reserve for coach Brown’s squad.

“Jared was consistent throughout the entire game,” Brown said. “I also felt like Cooper Ward came off of the bench and played really hard. Josh Jensen did a good job of scoring at the rim and protecting the basket on the other end.”
