A new season for the Grizzlies began in a good way Friday night in Salt Lake City.
Logan started the region portion of its football schedule with a road win at Judge Memorial. The Grizzlies never trailed in a 29-20 victory.
âThe offense fired on all cylinders, which was good to see,â said Logan coach Jayson Anderson in a radio interview with 610 KVNU. â… We preached all week to start (region) right. Now we need to keep getting better each week.â
The running game has struggled over the first three games, but not against the Bulldogs (0-4, 0-1 region). The Grizzlies (1-3, 1-0) rushed for 187 yards behind mostly Robbie Ballam and freshman Kade Thornley.
âRobbie Ballam ran the ball hard, which we hadnât seen,â Anderson said. âThe running backs were waiting for the offensive line to open holes.â
Ballam had rushing touchdowns of four and three yards. Thornley added a 24-yard TD scamper.
Jonny Guadarrama booted three field goals on the night from 27, 43 and 29 yards.
âHe (Guadarrama) stepped up with some big kicks,â Anderson said.
The Logan defense also came up big. The Grizzlies had five takeaways, including three interceptions by Jace Perry.
