Logan Grizzlies Varsity defeats Preston (ID) after late game single, 6-2
Logan Grizzlies Varsity outlasted Preston on Monday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 6-2 win at Logan High School.
Logan Grizzlies Varsity finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning. Logan Grizzlies Varsity scored on an RBI single by Saranie Brown off Megan Porter, plating Nya Laing.
Jocilyn Norris boosted her batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace Logan Grizzlies Varsity. She singled in the second, fourth, and sixth innings.
Laing kept contact to a minimum, striking out 10 Preston batters. Laing allowed two earned runs on four hits and one walk over seven innings.
Megan Porter took the loss for Preston . She allowed six runs in six innings, walked two and struck out seven.
The top of the first saw Preston take an early lead, 1-0. Katrina DeLong got things going for Preston with a single. A groundout by Ayla Weisbeck then moved DeLong from first to second. Megan Porter singled, scoring DeLong.
After a quick strike from Preston , Logan Grizzlies Varsity responded with one run in the first. Logan Grizzlies Varsity scored on a sacrifice fly by Laing.
