Comeback kills Logan Grizzlies Varsity’s hopes in 12-10 loss to Northridge (Layton, UT)

Logan Grizzlies Varsity led by four runs in the sixth inning, but Northridge put together a furious comeback to steal the victory, 12-10, on Friday at Logan High School.

Nya Laing had a hot bat for Logan Grizzlies Varsity. Laing went 4-5 and scored two runs. She singled in the first, second, third, and fifth innings.

Makenna Kap got the win in relief for Northridge . Kap pitched six innings and allowed three runs.

Makayla Dahl couldn’t get it done on the rubber for Logan Grizzlies Varsity, taking a loss. She lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.

In the top of the first, Northridge grabbed the early lead, 3-0. Northridge ‘s threat began with a single by Jackie Jones. Northridge then tacked on more runs when Jones scored on a walk by Brooklyn Braegger and Kap scored on a bases loaded walk by Laing.

Logan Grizzlies Varsity brought home two runs in the first inning, and matched that run total in the fourth. In the first, Logan Grizzlies Varsity scored on a bases loaded walk, plating Molli Balling.

Logan Grizzlies Varsity quickly matched Northridge ‘s strong inning with a five-run inning of its own in the second. Logan Grizzlies Varsity scored on a two-run error, an RBI single by Mia Marin, a groundout by Saranie Brown, and a groundout by Savannah Sanchez.

Logan Grizzlies Varsity answered Northridge ‘s top inning with two runs of its own in the fourth. Logan Grizzlies Varsity scored on a wild pitch and a groundout by Jocilyn Norris.

It didn’t take long for Logan Grizzlies Varsity to answer as it scored one run of its own in the fifth. Logan Grizzlies Varsity scored on a passed ball.

Northridge pushed across three runs in both the sixth inning and the seventh. In the sixth, Northridge scored on a three-run double by Kylie Garcia, scoring Brooke Jeffrey, Izabella Aiken and Jessica Ellis.

The lead stayed with Northridge after the seventh, when it scored three runs on a two-run double by Jessica Ellis.
